Maid Marion Fancy Dress Costume

Maid Marion was a Highborn Lady of the court; either an orphaned child that the king took in and raised in his own family; or daughter of the sheriff of Nottingham (in recent television programs). Her role throughout history has changed dramatically; in the 17th century she was depicted as being very active, and at one point disguises herself as a page and holds her own against Robin Hood. Whilst then in the Victorian era she is reverted to her previous role as a dainty maid in need of a manly figure. Whilst yet again she is changed in modern times with the rise of the feminism, her role is yet again reversed and she is again the adventurer, crack fighter and archer herself. The endings of many modern films and TV series depict Robin Hood and Maid Marion settling down, and Robin changing from outlaw to aristocratic gentleman.
There are many choices regards the Maid Marion costumes, if your child has a medieval themed event coming up or assembly, the children’s costume would be perfect, with green dress and gold headband.
